st.charly

October 11, 2006 at 11:19 pm (poem)

Dawn breaks
clouds are defibrated
the wet streets dry
and out of a doorway
steps the shining one
who had never shown at all
and does not now.
The steps slow and uncertain
as if the wonders of a new day where
far too much bear
but then light touches her face
and I now for sure
in all her own grace
it is the tardy
tired blinking goddess
the beloved St. Charly
